I have been looking at buying a property abroad but I am worried about inheritance tax and the consequences of buying a property.

Inheritance isn’t the nicest thing to think of when buying your dream home abroad but I am glad that you are doing the right thing and thinking about this stage. The way that inheritance tax and inheritance rules work in different countries varies quite a lot. In general the rules are very different to the UK.
There shouldn’t be any need to unduly worry about inheritance tax because by taking a bit of advice from the right people (lawyers and tax advisers) you can significantly reduce these taxes or even eliminate them completely.
