A Place In The Sun - August 2007 - Spain and Plot Sizes

Posted on Tuesday, 30 October 2007 03:36PM
Question: I am buying a plot of land in Spain and have been told that there has to be a minimum plot size. What is this and what is the minimum plot size

Answer: Minimum plot sizes started off in the days when people lived off the land and it was necessary to make sure that they had enough land to live on. Therefore in drier areas the minimum plot size was bigger than in more green areas. Nowadays the minimum plot size is more about making sure that properties are not built too closely to each other and that properties are not too tightly packed together. The minimum plot sizes will change depending on the area. There are also maximum build limits – the maximum that can be built on on any given plot, which is a related but separate issue.
