A Place In The Sun - Apr 2006 - Bulgaria Planning Permission

Posted on Tuesday, 30 October 2007 09:09AM
Question: I would like some advice on permissions needed to build a house in Bulgaria. Can you help me please.

Answer: You could write a book on building requirements in any country. Unfortunately you do not set out what you are intending to build or where, which makes it a bit more difficult to answer your question. Certainly you require planning permission in order to build in Bulgaria - just like you do in most countries. Whether you can obtain the relevant planning permission will depend on firstly the type of land you intend to build on and also what you intend to build on it. Once you have finished the building there are also formalities that need to be complied with - the first is where the property is certified as having the minimum national building specifications and then a further certification to say that the property is fit for habitation.
